Building Energy Performance Studies
With the building energy efficiency study, integrated energy planning in the building sector is institutionalized, with the aim of improving the energy efficiency of buildings, saving energy and protecting the environment. This is implemented with the following actions :
- Elaboration of a Building Energy Performance Study
- Establishment of minimum energy performance requirements for buildings
- Energy Rating of Buildings (Energy Label) which is necessary for every rental or sale of a property.
- Energy Inspections of buildings, boilers, heating and air conditioning installations.
The Building Energy Label Study replaces the thermal insulation study and will be prepared for every building , new or existing that is being radically renovated and is based on a specific methodology which is:
α) in the requirement to meet the building’s minimum specifications in terms of its design, the building envelope and the electromechanical installations and
β) in its comparison with a reference building. A reference building means a building with the same geometric characteristics, location, orientation, use and operating characteristics as the examined building, but which meets minimum specifications and has defined technical characteristics.
